This is so true.
I really only upvote memes that make me laugh (and it's super easy to make me laugh) but now people are using that tactic and i miss when imgflip was just only jokes and not points.
Heck! It took me a year to get to 4000 something points and most of those were from funny comments and not from this new tactic.

I agree. I understand new users trying to reach the point requirement so they cam meme in comments. But most established users should not make that their main material. It is not entertaining. That being said, if one has this as their goal there is a "begging for up votes" stream. You won't get any major ton of up votes over there because it really is just fun. But people who are doing that should just go post there and return the up votes to all the other ones who post there.

The content here has changed so much the past few months. Many of the best memers are no longer meming, some have deleted altogether. We have a changing season basically. I also see some newer users who are very creative and very deserving of the front page.

Yea. I honestly have not been on the site nearly as much as I used to (mostly due to reddit) and because the memes are just... weird. Not nearly as entertaining as they used to be.

I am really hoping this is just a phase. Like puberty or something. LOL

Yesterday I noticed as I was going through the fun stream that there were a TON of new users. Like with accounts they had just made. So they are pouring in. Maybe they will make a stream and all flock to it.

I am all up in the begging for up votes stream. It's no gold mine, but I find a lot of fun to be had in the comments there. I have a habit of running around and up voting people's first page of memes, and that is how I discovered all these new folks. I don't know. This is where we get the difference in age and life experience swirling.

Amen. In my very short meme-making career, I am proud to say I have never used this tactic. I'm not saying that you are terrible in you have, just that I personally have not used it and I am glad I haven't. Sure, I don't get many up votes, but I don't care.
