I really hope they give us this one. I am honestly shocked it wasn't already a thing here. But maybe they didn't expect the social aspect of this site to be so huge.
This is not true. The notifications remain. If you go to your notifications they will all be shaded gray if they are new. Once you leave that page they all lose their gray highlight whether you have acknowledged them or not.

I know but I mean change it to where when you click it it doesn't show anymore.
AAAAHHHH I see. An option to delete or hide notifications would be great wouldn't it? But so that you could still find them again if you realized later you wanted to go back.
Most people understand the way it goes around here. I did have someone get pretty upset. It was a new user, another time someone thought I was angry at the, Also a new user. I always figure I am not the only one missing them sometimes.

I THINK WE ALL WOULD LOVE TO BE ABLE TO MARK NOTIFICATIONS AS 'READ'. ONCE YOU OPEN THE NOTIFICATIONS THEY ALL GET MARKED YOU THEN FORGET WHERE YOU LEFT OFF WHILE RESPONDING THUS MISSING A LOT OF COMMENTS. WHY DON'T THEY TAKE CHECK BOXES; AND PUT THEM IN NOTIFICATIONS
