He may not personally grasp the fundamentals of how tariffs work, or more likely his usual hyperbole to drive the left more insane, but his administration’s policy is still valid. US markets, and therefore consumers, will not pay the inflated prices for long, cheaper suppliers will be sourced causing Chinese business revenue to drop, leading to pressure to renegotiate favorable trade deals.
