Which half? you can't have one without the other

Why? It depends on one's concept of 'hell'

Oops sorry, forgot the upvote! Have a few.

I guess it's similar to arguing for the existence of God. Maybe there is no scientific evidence that would satisfy a skeptic but the effects of their existence are what we base our belief on.

But seriously, why do you believe in the concept of eternal hell?

It does, the biggest lie in the modern world is that it doesn't or if it does no one really goes there

But God doesn't force people into heaven at all. That's what I'm talking about.

You're right, he doesn't force anyone anywhere to do anything. Free will is like that :)

There's this thing called love that impelles someone to do good for the sake of the one loved. Then there's fear where a person is impelled to do something good for the sake of himself to save his skin. God sends no one anywhere. He's not at the end of the tunnel with a squad car and handcuffs to take souls to hell. He's laid down laws that are actually there for everyone's good. Not following them only brings us and others suffering as history shows. It's not like he needs us to do anything, heck He never even had to create us. But heaven is about love and hell is about rejecting that love, God loves souls even when they reject him. Say A parent loves a child raises him right,
Gives him everything he needs but would you blame the parent solely if the child choose to become a crackhead?

He doesn't force anybody into anything living or dead. I'm confused
2 ups, 6y
Then why would He force people into eternal damnation?
2 ups, 6y
Yes, fire. Because it would be a quick end.
2 ups, 6y,

But the Holy Bible speaks of being cast into the lake of fire. Or in other words, separation from the system you don't agree with.

Hell is a seperation you're right. "I will separate the sheep from the goats" what about that place where there will be wailing and knashing of teeth. I could give you plenty of biblical references for heaven, hell and purgatory.
2 ups, 6y,

No, you really can't. My main point is that a loving God, who, although bad things can happen in this life, still loves his creation, would never allow an eternity of suffering for people that chose the wrong path. Hell is an eternity of darkness, outside of God's community. Not constant pain. How could God allow free will and then allow a situation where people are tortured forever for failings in an evil land where the innocent are so often abused?

Sin is a turning away from God during this life. No one is forced into sin they chose to do it, like someone abusing an innocent person. There are degrees of sin, some are more culpable than others depending on their awareness and understanding of God and His will for humanity. We see evil but only God can judge the soul on its merits or sins. He gives every opportunity possible in this life to know Him and do His will. After that it's on the individual to choose Him or reject Him. I think God would make very clear the permanency of their decision

Don't get snippy! :)

I agree with all that. But why does the separation have to be eternal torture?
K8. M
0 ups, 6y
I guess if they can see God with their own eyes, see how He had tried to touch them through their lives and they still reject His love there is nothing that will change that decision.

But Gods people will not "have more then they can handle" Psalm 91:1 "whoever dwells in the shelter of the most high shall rest in the shadow of the almighty"

That's if you live for God. Then yes, you'll rest with Him.
2 ups, 6y
But why are you so certain that hell exists? I'm kind of lost here now and I'll drop it if you want, but i kinda want to discuss it because I think it defames our God.

If you accept Jesus Christ as your savior but keep on sinning, you won't got to hell but a lot hellish stuff will happen

But what is 'hell'? I see it as being cast into the lake of fire, a quick end after the choice of separation, not an eternal hell. As is described in the Bible.
1 up, 6y
Eternal fire

So like the death penalty for souls? But the soul is eternal. I know it seems unfathomable the idea of eternal bliss or damnation but that's the choice God gave the angels too.

lol wha? I get the concept of free will, but we are talking about Lucifer torturing God's people forever.
1 up, 6y
What? Heaven is for people who know Jesus Christ hell is for those who reject him
K8. M
0 ups, 6y
They torture themselves, by knowing that they are eternally seperated from God and all good. They are no longer God's people because they choose not to be. hell doesn't need a devil to torture them the seperation is torture enough. Nothing in the bible mentions the devil torturing, only mentions fire.
1 up, 6y,

Yes. But free will to torture people forever? Who's in control?

Why would a loving God force anyone to spend eternity in heaven if they truly hated God? What kind of heaven would that be.
