Morta Christo not ring any bells?
Come on, Jews have always been the go-to to hate with everyone. It's amazing how casual people can be about it in regular conversation (as in amongst friends, etc).
Even my mother, after finding out her grandfather may have been Jewish (a kid with an Italian name was taken in by a family in Spain. Moving to Puerto Rico, they just pretended he was one of their one kids to bypass any problems with bureacracy and whatever his true original identity was became obscured over time) a few years ago, still refers to them derisively.
Near everyone I know has referred to "The Jews" in not always the most flattering ways, and stereotypes abound.
People on this site (and another) arguing with me have on occasion called me "Jewish" like it's a bad thing (I take it as a compliment, since they're basing that simply on my knowledge, not anything I have said about me, plus growing up Christian, I always admired God's Chosen, so...).
On the forum I used to go on, the majority was English and European and many would talk of Jewish people in shocking ways at time, old prejudices lingering and less sympathy for historical maltreament plus sympathy for the Palestinians framing the caustic manner they spoke of them with. These where mainly far better educated and wordly people than us ignoramuses, mind you.
