Very true, he was old school Prussian in attitude. The same type of propaganda that said Germans cut the hands off Belgium children was responsible for him being portrayed as a heartless villian. When he died, the Brits dropped, i think a wreath and condolences, if I remember correct.
Goering was a poor choice to replace Reinhart (who was also Jewish) as the 2nd leader of JG1, after Richthofen. He was a good fighter but not a leader. He only gained 1 victory after that. Don't think Wolff was Jewish tho. Neither was Werner Voss, the teenaged ace and most skilled flier in the German airforce, although that was claimed for years. I was always fascinated by Jasta 11 during bloody april 1917, with Richthofens, Wolff, Allmenroder, Schaffer and I forget who else. The ones on the Zep cover. They were battling against 56 squadron (Ball) and 60 (Bishop). It was a 2 week life expectancy for new allied pilots at that time.
Yes, Moritz, I think. He must of had PTSD pretty bad. He broke his rules to get #81 and paid with his life.
