JP Morgan sunk the Titanic to kill the last influential opposition to the Federal Reserve, including the richest man in the US.

Morgan switched the Olympian and the Titanic for the scheme because the Olympian had been heavily damaged and its insurance coverage went down too far to recoup the losses should it happen to sink or something. The Olympian sunk under the guise of its sister for the Titanics insurance.

Isadour Strauss, Benjamin Guggenheim, and Jacob Astor were three of the richest men in the world at the time. They were also all opposed to a central bank because it would hurt their fortunes. JP Morgan personally invited all of them to take a trip on his Titanics maiden voyage with him. The day it was set to sail, JP decided not to show.

In one fell swoop JP was able to turn a fortune out of a broken ship and eliminated the most influential resistance to the central bank. The following year the Federal Reserve act was signed by Wilson.
