y'know, i struggle with that same question every day myself. when hundreds of people are killed every year in senseless mass shootings by lunatics, and i try to comfort their families and friends by telling them the low odds of it having happened and how our right to carry high-powered semi-automatic weapons is helping to keep those odds so comfortingly low, they stare at me like i'm a frickin' moron. they rage at me and scream that the idea that doing nothing is the best answer is logically indefensible, completely irresponsible, and plainly idiotic. and then they get all self-righteous and arrogant just because they want to solve the problem while we odds quoters are just standing there with our heads up our "@sseses". people are just funny i guess.
