You are absolutely correct. In a Democracy, if the majority of the population decides that nobody can own a car worth above $50,000, then that becomes the law. But in a Constitutional Republic, there are checks and balances to protect the minorities. Furthermore, many states would never have joined the union in the first place if they were not guaranteed that their voices (no matter how small) would be weighed equally with all other states.

yep and did you know there are 14 states that can legally leave the union at their digestion and there are three different power grids in the U.S

Excellent points! The United States would not remain united for very long if the states with small, sparsely populated mostly rural areas did not have an equal voice in national governance.
