compare this to the early 90's where we saw the "savings and loan scandals",which accounted for iirc 300-400 billion:
1100 bankers indicted, charged, presecuted and sent to jail.
fast forward to 2007,
wall street crashes the global economy.some of the biggest players were found to not only be complicit, but knowingly and with intent,to defraud.goldman sachs actually bet against itself, and while their investors (which many were local municipalities pension funds) lost almost everything.
goldman sachs made billions.
zero indictments, and they were allowed to walk with their profits, while the American tax payer was handed the bill.
there are currently 2.2 million incarcerated, and almost 4 million on parole/probation.
the majority of these inmates and probies are:poor, people of color, and powerless.
many of the institutions in charge of both prisoners and probies are private companies.translation:poor people have been commodified for big business and has NOTHING to do with justice, and everything to do with profit.
now I am not trying to diminish your story, but our criminal justice system is seriously f**ked.
