If the goal was to unveil this "proposal" in such a manner that it would cause strife, division, and fear from within the party that put it forth, then..ok. I don't think that was the intention, but perhaps the unintended consequences of letting it out.
Everyone is definitely "talking" about it, but the old guard of the Democrat party establishment is notably less vocal than the new upstarts. Perhaps because this, in its present form, can be a tool used by the Republican party to win over or keep industrial states come 2020. Political parties don't really seem to be interested in "fixing" anything, just retaining and gaining more power, which this type of proposal jeopardizes. The traditional excuse used by both parties is that the work can't be done if we don't get elected again.
I don't think AOC has the intellectual acumen to appreciate how an idea becomes reality. There's nothing in her background that tells me she's ever been trained or has possessed the philosophical tools necessary to make such judgements. Because of this, her ideas (or talking points, if we're honest) are being talked about in a non-productive way that doesn't achieve the end she desires.
It'll never happen anyway. Renewable resources, as they now stand, are in no position to take up the mantle of providing energy on the level that the US currently consumes. And if you want to see that idea go down in flames, just start forcing people to consume less to the point that if affects their comfort level. That was really the idea behind my meme; taking a comical view of how everyday comforts could be affected by the implementation of the GND in it's current form.
