he learned to play on a right handed guitar upside down while being left handed. amazing. was also in 101st airborne

Yep, he was a natural. Apparently when he started to play, he went to a guitar shop, strummed a tuned guitar and could tune by ear right away.

SRV did the best Hendrix covers. Especially on Little Wing.
They both also had great tone. Hendrix had to restring his guitars in order to play a right handed guitar left and this gave him a different tone and SRV used such heavy strings that his fingers would bleed. To bend like Stevie did with those strings was unbelievable.

yea, Little wing might be the best song ever written.. only complaint is, its too short.
Ever heard any Rory Gallagher ? they call him the Irish Jimi
I like robin trower too. blues based guitar heroes.
Page, Iommi, Beck, Clapton, VH, knophler, Terry kath, Gibbons, blackmore, Rhodes, Gilmore, allman are some of my other favs too.

I spent many an hour learning it on guitar. I love that style of Hendrix, like Castles made of sand.
I've heard Gallagher. He's good but I never got into his stuff, might not have heard his best.
Yeah, they are all good. Altho I do like a few Zep songs, i find them horribly overrated, altho the bass and drums was top notch. Never got into the Blackmore band, can't even remember the name.

Mine would include Hendrix, SRV, Johnny Winters, Clapton (I know he's been cheese for years but his lead playing has just always been great) Peter Green, Blind Willie Johnson, Robert Johnson, Charlie Christian, Roy Buchanan, Allman and Betts, Albert King, Michael Bloomsfield (Even just for his work on East-West) Knophler, Rhodes, Ry Cooder. And just recently seeing Roy Clark after he died, damn, could he rip on the guitar, saw him with that country guy that also just died of Alzheimers, my memory sucks these days, George Jones maybe? Anyway, no, Glen Campbell, they just ripped it up!!

It amazes me how good some of the country guys are, as I never listened to much beyond some Kris kristofferson. That's what I like in country, 'Sunday morning coming down' or Stones or the Band. More a soul country, i guess.

I also use to be impressed that he's a Rhodes Scholar... until I saw they made Rachel Maddow one.
