I'm American, Dad was born in Scotland. I did spend 25 days in the York area last year and had a great time.

Crap! I created this then didn’t post it, changed my mind and thought you meant otherwise lol!

Its fine! We call ourselves Scottish because of my dad, but my mother is a sweet southern belle. I am originally from Seattle Washington, but spent most of my childhood in Florida before settling in New England. Moving so often I think helped me learn how to make fun of myself almost as a defense mechanism. I was also the new kid.

Yeah it's weird how two similar religions can cause such a division. My dad moved to the UK from Ireland when he was a teenager to look for work. He had his birth certificate torn up by an English cop, still has it all taped together to this day. Most people could care less if someone is catholic or protestant but there are still a minority that like to keep tensions running.
