Y'know, the one they passed in 2002 with bipartisan support that gave full rights to newborns who survived an abortion procedure? Killing a child who has been born, regardless of the circumstances, is illegal already.

The law Republicans brought forth is completely unnecessary and could have dangerous side effects. It was never going to pass, because passing it wasn't the point. It's just them fear-mongering to rally their reactionary base. I'd say it's working.

I think you are wrong. This law was to prevent The laws in Virgina and New York from taking effect. And also prevent other states from passing such laws. Fearmongering is False. My facts are True.
House Bill 2491 in Virginia began inspiring outcry among abortion opponents nationwide after its sponsor, Virginia Delegate Kathy Tran, said in a committee hearing on Monday that it would technically allow abortion until the point of birth, if a doctor agreed it was necessary.

Gov. Northam, a Democrat, was asked about the bill in a radio interview on Wednesday, and his response only added to the controversy. Appearing to discuss what would happen if a child was born after a failed attempt at abortion, he said, “the infant would be resuscitated if that’s what the mother and the family desired, and then a discussion would ensue between the physicians and the mother.”

They wouldn't violate the law because there is room for states to make their own decisions. This bill would have unreasonably strengthened the 2002 law while further diminishing the rights of states to govern themselves. Again, this never had a chance of passing, and was never intended to pass anyway. It's doing its job.
