When did a "leave a penny" dish become "kharma bro"?

Don't even get me started on places like Papa Murphy's pizza or those restaurants where you sit down and then have to cook your own food

Like, legit table service...refills, taking dirty plates, etc. Simply bringing my food to me and I'm on my on from there doesnt count.

I'm totally with you. If somebody isn't taking my order from me and putting the order in to the kitchen and bringing it to me, they haven't really done anything to earn that extra money

Sad part is, I wonder if companies are basing salaries around getting tips in places that really dont deserve tips...

That's why so many people who come here from foreign countries are confused by the tipping system.
Other countries already pay servers well and servers are actually usually pretty insulted if somebody tries to tip them. They don't feel like they need to be incentivised by customers to do their job

Actually, there was a study a while back that determined that restaurant goers would rather pay a little extra on their meal in order for servers to be paid better in liew of being obligated to pay a tip
