The private owners would have to lower health care prices because if they didn't they lose most of their customers because the middle class make up most of America.

Or they could just keep people in perpetual debt like college loans do. And they do.

You spend whole years in college, but usually only hours in hospitals. Btw a pure single payer health care system would do that to doctors. Now most places with "single payer health care" still have private insurance companies or have the providers pay it etc.
