I remember the 2008 election campaign, when several Republican candidates each claimed God told told them to run. It made me think...were they lying, or was God just screwing with their minds?

Yes, Huckabee was in it pretty much to the end, but McCain was basically too much for any other challenger. It got even crazier in 2012 with Michele Bachmann in the race.
