This is what happens when you believe the lies you tell yourself:
"Only the DNC cares about the employees"
Oh wait, no they don't. Not even a little.

The article:
https://thefederalistpapers.org/opinion/democrats-vote-not-pay-federal-workers-media-hides

Bill:
https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/house-joint-resolution/28

Obviously, the msm didn't mention any of this.

I’m not disagreeing with you completely but neither of these things explain why the Democrats did this.

Am I reading this wrong that the bill did eventually pass? A second roll call was made on the 23rd and passed with only one Democrat voting nay?

Was something changed in the initial bill when it was put to roll call?

I prefer to ask questions rather than let media or opposition explain decisions being made in the house. Nor do I pretend to know all the ends and outs of how government works. I know the basics, and I don’t like jumping to conclusions.

Unless they’re funny conclusions... but putting that aside I genuinely want to know.

Don’t expect you to answer them, but I will be looking further into this.

You're a smart fella.

When the republicans voted "yay":
On motion to recommit with instructions Failed by the Yeas and Nays: 195 - 222

When the democrats voted "yay":
On passage Passed by the Yeas and Nays: 229 - 184

(motion to recommit with instructions) vs. (passage)

(Motion to recommit)
They want to send the bill back, have it changed with specific amendments, and bring it back for a new vote.
https://archives-democrats-rules.house.gov/archives/recommit_mot.htm

(Passage)
I can't find the real definition. Apparently to take the bill as is and send it to the senate for approval.

I've got to go to the gym. Tomorrow I will find out what amendment the republicans were proposing. The plot thickens.

While I was researching this stuff the shutdown ended.

I found an entirely separate example that shows the Dems own the shutdown while I was digging around.

Turns out a Mr. Kennedy introduced a bill that had only one thing in it: The Coast Guard are to be payed during the shutdown.

Republicans unanimously agreed. Dems almost all said Nay.

It's in the middle of this thing somewhere. The whole thing is worth a watch.
