David Hogg got the royal treatment cause he went out of his way to enter a highschool that was under lockdown, bring a camera, and start recording the incident.

the reason he became famous is due to his actions on the day of the shooting, which was reckless and could have gotten people killed (himself included) and now he is seen as a symbol of gun control.
