Actually, anyone with even a cursory acquaintance with history and geopolitics would realize that in the long term the interests of the United States would be better served by a relationship with Iran than with the decrepit state of Saudi Arabia. This is not to understate the provocative and dangerous actions taken by Iran over the years. However, in the long run it should be easier to reach an accommodation with a regime that is part theocracy and part republic than an absolute monarchy. And no, neither the Iranian nor the Saudi's should be viewed as friends.
