you wrong they started their invasion in august thinking low of their enemy that they'll fall before the winter and when it hit them that invading that much land is gonna take longer than they thought, it was too late for it was already winter and the streched supply lines didnt help anyone either, and rasputita(time of the mud) made it even harder for them to get supplies to the weary troops then they los in stalingrad and everything slowly fell from there
