I'm 31 and most people around me are also largely conservative. and yes, we grew out of it --primarily out of first hand experience that most of these policies don't work, the cost never stops growing and the answer to every bad big government policy is to add even more big government.

Alot of college and highschool students fail to understand this until they become tax payers and find themselves out in the world, away from the safety of parents and college campuses -- we're all for federal policy if it actually fixes the problem -- but alot of the time it doesn't, and thats why many of us switched away from Liberalism to conservatism.

So you admit that taxes is one of the main reasons you became republican?

Simplistic observation of my point
A bad policy should either be adjusted or retracted --what should absolutely not happen is for said policy to either continue as it is or expand into creating more issues on top --but that's what happens, and if the funds can't be spent reasonably then they shouldn't be spent at all.

Your definition of reasonable isn't the final determinant right? As an example look at all the fuss over funding a border wall or funding planned parentood.
You want lower taxes and that is one of the main reason Republicans are Republicans.
