Honestly I didnt even realize NIN released it first although I had heard that version many times, thanks for setting me straight! I like the Cash version best TBH because when it came out it was something so different from what he usually did that I was just blown away. I've always been a Cash fan and that rendition was just so awesome I couldn't quit listening to it, had the CD in my truck and played it over and over again. It just really made me appreciate him as an artist even more, and the fact that he died shortly after its release made it even more like, hey, Imma blow yall away before I leave the world behind, sort of like his mike drop moment. Nothing but respect for NIN tho, their version is really different and cool sounding, especially with the twangy out of tune guitar playing, it just adds to the lyrics perfectly.
