We need multiple competing parties so that are individually limited in power and have a market incentive to keep the corruption down.

If elections worked off a plurality instead of a majority a multiparty system would be more viable. Good luck amending the constitution.

Yes the system has flaws as this experiment is playing itself out. Still there are chances to correct them. Ranked choice voting, plurality of parties, ridding money out of politics, and direct democracy where eventually no politician will be needed all all possible remedies. However plurality of parties without ranked choice voting Has proven to be a nonstarter for 3rd parties.
