A dirigible (like The Hindenburg) relied on a rigid internal framework to keep its shape. Without its hydrogen, it would still look like a rigid airship.
The blimp's shape is due to outward pressure of the lighter-than-air gasses. If there was no helium in a blimp, it would simply look like a collapsed (or deflated) balloon.
