generally, conservatives tend to "punch down" in their jokes, which tends to be less funny, at least to liberals, than liberal jokes, which "punch up". Jokes that punch up are more relatable to the general public, and thus are found to be more funny, subjectively speaking kind of. It's pretty epic.
