A justice with the Whitehouse and Senate belonging to different parties would of been better than what just happened.

I don’t know, but I have a feeling, that as Justice Scalia’s best friend, even RBG wouldn’t want to give a nomination to Obama. She is probably one of the Justices that secretely voted in favor of George Bush in Bush v. Gore, but then wrote a dissent anyway.

Well the republicans changed the approval process of supreme court justices from a super-majority to simply a majority. So now only 1/2 plus one approves instead of 3/5ths beforehand. So now it only requires 51 instead of 60. This will lead to more extreme justices.

2/3 is impossible in this era.

It is possible if they select moderate judges.
It's 3/5 not 2/3. 60 vs 66.6.
It's stupid

No way, because the 2/3 rule was based on the judges qualifications not the substance of their decisions and not politics. If it was a tenured circuit judge they got approved even if the pols disagreed with them.

It's 51 now not 60 as in the past.
That means more extreme judges can get approved when the Whitehouse and Senate are of the same party.
How that fact is controversial is beyond me. Edited to correct the numbers

Not true. What judge was ever not approved before? Politicizing the Supreme Court began when Regan appointed Robert Bork in 1987. The democrats opposed him and began the divisive politicism of the Court. Before the Democrats set that bad precedent, a judge nominated was a judge appointed. This was started by the democrats, not the republicans.

That is your excuse? They started it!
Let's continue a bad precedent because well they did it first. Grow up

No it’s not an excuse. It is a fact. And it makes your argument wrong. Because before the Bork appointment, the appointment of a Justice to the Supreme Court was not politicized by the party that lost the preceding presidential election. So when the supermajority applied it only applied to the appointee’s tenure and qualifications as a judge on the Federal Circuit. It did not consider whether the judge would rule one way or another. The democrats radically changed the criteria to vengeance and sour grapes. That is what led to the elimination of the supermajority. I know, you hate facts. And you love to make things up that fit your agenda.

You love to believe whatever your party tells you.

You love to make up support for what you love. However, that is why they say love is blind. Blind to reality.

I am done conversing with someone so willfully ignorant. Go waste someone else's time. Goodbye
