Try taking a flower out of a national forest and tell the ranger you have permission from the state of California. I worked for the Feds for 30-years. The state tells them nothing.

California lawmakers decide the regulations for managing and preserving their forests and wildlife; the forestry services can only act within the parameters set forth by these regulations.

I see that point, but the Sierra Club and other organized environmental protesters need to concede to proper management of old trees sitting on the borders of the federal lands. From what I know from friends living in those areas - and if you can show me where I'm wrong I honestly appreciate it- the feds are restricted on how much they can do with these restrictions right outside their jurisdiction? And it is the neighborhoods and private lands that suffer the most fatalities from fires?

I understand, I love the outdoors.
