Our system already has led to totalitarianism. Besides its not just DD but a constitutional Direct Democracy. As it is corrupt politicians are making laws that benefit themselves and their funders not the people. Those Direct Democracy is not a perfect system (if there even is such a thing) it is worlds better than what we have now.
