Polarization in theological discussions is as bad as the same in political discussions.

Polarization in theological discussions is as bad as the same in political discussions. | Greetings my Reformed brethren. We don't hold to Reformed theology but would like to have a profitable, exegetically based theological discussion. Oh no! Here come the Traditionalists, Arminians, and Cage Stagers! Perhaps I'm naive, but in my opinion, those I've seen who've engaged bitterly on those issues are ones who are hyper types or hyperseparationists themselves.

Extreme Arminians regarded the Calvinists as non-Christians because they have a different god, and on the other side (I've never met them, but I can imagine that they) sees the Arminians as the same as total Pelagians (therefore posesses a different gospel).

There will always extreme voices on both sides of every issue.

I have been around long enough and talked to enough Reformed believers and non-Reformed believers to know that there is "poo slinging" on both sides of the debate and the "poo slingers" don't necessarily have to be on the extremes of their respective camps.

I agree that the "hypers" on either side are the worst as they consider anyone who is not as "hyper" as themselves to be unregenerate.

Take for example this Facebook post by James R. White wherein he shares a post from a hyper-Calvinist who calls him an "apostate." I have learned more about Calvinism from Dr. White's books and podcast than almost anywhere else. I highly recommend reading "The Potter's Freedom" and listening to the Dividing Line and/or Radio Free Geneva.

I can't tell you what to do, but I would avoid people who talk like this about anyone who is not as "Reformed" (i.e. extreme) as themselves. There is a "ministry" out there called R.A.M. (Reforming America Ministries) and that is there speciality: condemning all Arminians and even other Calvinists who won't condemn every non-Calvinist.

I see your point, brother. I can easly see Arminians being impassioned over it, as I could easily have been. For Calvinists, I could also see them in their Caged Stage, and not getting out of that stage. However, I could not see how the average subscribers of both can descend into poop-slinging; unless they've never been told the difference between fundamental theology and periphrial theology.

I supposed that no one had told them of the differences.
