Yes, I AM Italian--my mother's parents and sister were born in Italy.

Columbus was trying to find a route to INDIA. He thought the world was much smaller. Ferdinand and Isabel figured "What the heck ... he has the diameter wrong, but maybe he'll find something." Even the ancient Greeks knew to the diameter of the Earth to within about 5%.
