Did you get your information from fox entertainment news?

"Abrams, who faces Republican Brian Kemp in November’s race for governor, said through a spokeswoman that she opposed the legislation because it limited the discretion of judges".

"The Abrams campaign, meanwhile, pointed to support from Stephanie Davis, the former head of the organization Georgia Women for a Change, who called Reeves’ critique of Abrams “despicable.”

“I worked closely with Stacey Abrams for over a decade to combat sex trafficking. She was always the single best advocate we had,” Davis said. “She consistently worked to hold perpetrators accountable and make sure survivors received the services they deserved."

I don't watch partisan new like Faux.

I stated the facts as I find them through her actions. I don't want secondhand answers through "spokespeople." Abrams has refused to provide voters with positions on key issues covered by the 2018 Political Courage Test, despite repeated requests from votesmart.org.

If she says, "I think judges should have discretion to give sentences." I read that as, "I don't think sex traffickers deserve mandatory minimums."

A political leader who wants to get things done will sometimes have to compromise on a piece of legislation in which they don't agree with every part in order to begin or continue the right process (ending sex trafficking in our state) with a view of amending the legislation later.

She is for casinos coming into our state and I'm supposed to thing she wants to "protect women"?

I'm sorry but i don't understand what you mean. What do casinos have to do with protecting women?

Judges discretion I understand completely. Example: two cases, one worse than the other, with the judges hands tied on the punishment. Both cases get the same sentence when one deserves more. Why bother having a judge if he can't determine the sentencing? But...I also just skimmed a few governmental websites so I don't know squat. If you read it another way and if you think she didn't vote for protecting women for any good reasons then absolutely cast your vote else where. If he's not worse. Just saying do your due diligence. Negative ads about everyone running are everywhere. Ignore all of it and find the truth you believe is credible.

It's not rocket surgery: "Wherever in the world casinos exist drugs, prostitution, and sex trafficking increase in the area"? Who are mostly the victims of sex trafficking and who are more likely to go into a life a prostitution, men or women? The answer to that is the connection between supporting casinos and protecting women.

I use votesmart.org a non-partisan website that doesn't support any candidate or push any agenda, where voters can go to read the public statements, voting records, and policy positions (if the campaign will answer the national survey) of any political candidate at the state or national level and I discern from their public record if someone is worthy of my vote. You can go to that site and do your due diligence for any candidate running in your state.

I've always kept up with my state and county candidates. Government, in theory, is facinating. It only works if the people allow it by following imaginary rules. The second people start paying attention to what's been really going on governments crash. The generation with the power to make the biggest changes, now, are trapped in their own little selfie world and think government doesn't really have anything to do with them. It should get pretty interesting. Everywhere I go I see different media techniques being used to get everyone to vote in November. It does seem to be an important vote, though they all are just as important as the next. I don't think they'll be a blue wave, or a red one for that matter. I still think most people just don't care. Anonymity online allows people to vent their frustrations but it's my bet most of it comes from unregistered voters. I wish I didn't care.

I can see where casinos could be considered all the same but wouldn't that be a police problem, not a governor problem? Now I'll show my ignorance about casinos. I was under the impression most casinos were still Indian owned. Other than Vegas the only ones I knew of were in Cali. I've never had enough money to just hand it over to someone for fun. I play the lottery once a year on my birthday. Lol!

I've been to votesmart and several others. I've been caught off guard twice in my life and both times it ended badly so I am the kind of person that wants ALL the information. Even all the lies and negativity tell you something about a camp.

Where I live it's all republican. There are good people here but absolutely zero diversity. The racism isn't out in the open like in Texas where I grew up. Oh, no. It's subtle and it drives me insane. There isn't anyone local I want to vote for. I also don't want to just throw away my vote. So I have to decide whether I want to even be a part of the whole mess anymore. No one is worth voting for.

I'm very happy to hear you know how important it is not to just listen to the junk being shoved down everyone's throats. I fear the masses just vote party or vote for whichever candidate shakes their hand at a parade or has the biggest billboard.

Either way you choose to cast your ballot I hope the winners do good things for your state. I don't know if anyone running in Federal government positions will ever help us. Pretty sure they think their job is to get as much tax payer money in their pockets as possible.
