This is a deep question. If they can learn language, with hand signing or whatever, their thinking is vastly different than before language. There is coverage, from South America I think that looks at the difference learning a language makes. Before language, people enact parts of stories by using behavior imitation. After learning language, it is too frustrating to converse with the others anymore.
