JK about the mods. I see two of yours from 4 days ago, two from 3 days ago and only one from 2 days ago.

You do know if you only submit one, there's an algorithm that temporarily knocks you down to two submissions, right?

Yes I know, just my opinion that this algorithm is one of the extra nonsensical features that should be removed, and never should have been. Why punish users for not submitting their quota? Let the users submit their best memes, not extra memes just to fill their 2nd or 3rd spot. So I used this as one of my two available subs, ended up I think it was the only one that day.

Funny, I was submitting some feedback about something else and I got a pop up I've never seen before. Might be the latest css, the new Chrome or maybe they've had enough of me and my feedback :)

I think they always have an ear open, I still send them stuff and it seems like some of it sticks occasionally.

You have to click “ok” to submit it. It’s called feedback suppression. :)

I think the feedback form changed from a page at a URL to a pop up. I think my image of the "toss" pop up above is supposed to appear if you hit the "x" in the upper right of the new feedback pop up. Last night the "toss" pop up would appear when I hit the "Submit Feedback" button. Someone should submit some feedback about that...

I submitted feedback on it this morning.

Did you use the broken feedback pop up or send it by email? :)

I was using my phone. I don’t think it’s a pop up but can’t tell. If I click ok, it seems feedback is still submitted.

It's fixed now.

I don’t know if I’m getting old and grumpy, but I don’t like any of the front page memes (ok, maybe one)...

I just submitted 2, from my comments, I think the cutoff is midnight pacific time. Or I just burned tomorrow’s memes. :(

Pretty sure the cutoff in your local time zone depends whether Daylight Savings is in effect. I think the setting is UTC-8, so 2am EDT or 3am EST.

I still have 3 so the cut off was 3am Eastern.

WayneUrso noticed a change and had it in a recent meme. I asked The_Lapsed_Jedi if he noticed a change, he said he first noticed it changed on Saturday 9/8. We checked this morning and it looks like the new reset time is noon Zulu time = UTC 12:00 = 8am EDT. I'm guessing the reset time for us will change by an hour when DST ends, but still be at UTC 12:00.

I think it may be because they have a “mod” that will start looking at the submissions at this time. So they don’t get caught with a bunch of inappropriate memes auto-featuring at midnight PST. I think custom memes will feature at this time IF they haven’t been explicitly marked to not feature. But if memes are submitted after the mods go to sleep, then it may happen. Also I think some upvotes may help it feature (if true, it would seem odd - I don’t think upvotes should help a meme feature - it may encourage alts.) Memes should feature on its own merits.

I'm under the impression there are times (not always) when comments get monitored in real time, creations can go NSFW if the comments get too racy or other mod actions are made. I'm guessing the mods have a tool to watch all creations as they get generated and also where they get applied if they are comments.

If the mods are all caught up reviewing submissions, that could be where they hang out to stay on top of the avalanche, at least temporarily. It would make sense to me they review that stream for featuring criteria too, whether those creations get submitted or not.

That could explain how custom creations that started out as comments get featured so quickly sometimes.

And they just featured now. I wonder if it is a trick, can autofeature custom memes at midnight if they haven’t been marked to not feature.

I've had a few custom comment images that featured very quickly after submission. One of them featured less than a minute after submission.
