This irritates me considerably! Just give me the freaking change!

I know there's groups of people in the US that are vehemently, yes, vehemently, anti penny and other groups that are just as passionately pro penny because it makes the news every so often. Personally, I'm not really invested either way. I like keeping change jars when I'm saving for stuff cause I somehow find it easier to put aside a handful of change vs a handful of paper money and it still adds up. If I have a handful of paper money chances are I'm apt to put it toward something more immediate.

I use my change when I have an emergency usually, sometimes I may save it for something specific.

Live cashiers are somewhat of an endangered species in my area. More and more places are becoming 80% or so self checkouts, which I only like when I need to pay with a pile of change.. lol.. I can feed the coins into the machine and it doesn't judge me or get all pissed about having to count coins vs paper.

I know of some stores which do not have the self check out, but others who have quite a few self check stations. I have hyperacusis, and the extremely loud beep of certain scanners drives me to the more tolerable self check. But also I like knowing my bread won't get bagged with cans of soup or a bag of sugar on top of it.

But even with a live cashier if something is being bagged wrong, I have no problem correcting it right then myself, like if heavy stuff is with bread or meat with produce or w/e.. sometimes the cashiers get salty but oh well.. better that than ruined groceries, yk?

Usually my kids are with me and creating plenty of distractions so I don't always catch these errors until I get home and find the worlds largest tortilla in with the canned goods. LOL! I have a habit now of telling them up front not to do certain things, or I will place the stuff on the conveyor belt the way I would prefer it to be bagged. This works pretty well.

Wow we only go as low as fives now, they stopped being used 20+ years ago!

It's not like it's a lot of trouble to have a few pennies in the change purse. I guess if you have too many you should just empty them out! LOL!

I stopped carrying gold coins ($1 & $2) and jut kept putting them in a jar. I just counted them last week and I had $400. I save my silver coins and dump them in the tip jar at my local cafe :-)

We don't have $2 coins here. Not sure where you are that they do that? But I do save my coins because it's just an easy way to save a chunk of emergency money. It has come in handy many times.
