The punk president went out of his way to snub him, not even uttering his name when signing a bill named after him. He ignored the passing of a Senator from his own office, who was the only ex-POW serving in the Legislature. The draft dodging pile of feces serving as president could not bring himself to follow tradition and put aside pettiness. Other than that, America recognized the loss of an American hero. He became a hero, not by being captured, but by refusing a free pass and facing sure torture for years to stand with his fellow POWs. As a VA POW Coordinator at one time, I know that they saw him as a hero, even if some on the extreme right do not.
