Proper understanding of David and Goliath leads to good application

Amen, Brother!

LOL, there are people who believe in the Bible, who think David and Goliath are figurative? Ouch!

Some people preach or teach that even though David and Goliath were real, "David represents you and Goliath represents the obstacles in your life." I have heard/read "preaching" like that.

I'm sure somewhere there are people who "believe the parts of the bible they like" who think the account of David and Goliath is "just a story with a deeper meaning."

It seems like believing the latter would undermine the account because by believing it's simply a story about fictional characters makes it seem more like a philosophy to live by, which doesn't require the same form of devotion.
