Did you know that the number of those who are believers in Christ AND write sci-fi or fantasy novels are a small percentage of those who write sci-fi and fantasy.
Most Christians don’t.
But....
Of the Christians that do, more than 90% of the writers belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint!
And Salt Lake City has one of the largest, well attended ComicCons in the nation!
They are also hosts to FanX, DragonConFairyCon , fearCon and renaissance faires galore during the summer!
There are tons of haunted houses, haunted hallows, haunted corn mazes etc during the fall...
those that belong to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints certainly are TOTAL GEEKS... and proud of it!

Hahahahah! Great! That's totally anti stereotype and I love it! I didn't mean to say that everybody in Utah are intolerant, nor that all mormons are, nor mormons at all. I also believe not all texans would be intolerant! Stereotypes can be funny, given they are used wisely, for the sake of laughter.

Also, TOLKIEN WAS A FERVENT CATHOLIC. We should probably mail-bomb the senator and remember him this fun fact :D

Just kidding. I myself am a great nerd and not such a liberal. Yet I'm puzzled how some christians can be so crazy. In Italy we have a newly elected senator who announced a war on witchcraft in school, just because a teacher made kids play theatrically some world fairytales. So I wonder, with all the real problems around, wtf is wrong wit this people?

That is crazy!
As a former kindergarten teacher, I can tell you having kids act out fairytales and fables is perfectly natural and not a gateway activity into a world of witchcraft!
That senator obviously has unresolved childhood issues.... maybe his teacher cast him as the troll instead of the goats or Prince Charming and he never got over it!

I don't know about his past. I know we are in a catolic country and after that he got elected...

That is cool that you are from Italy!
I want to visit there someday... tour the entire county and spend time in each region.
My aunt is from a small village near the foothills of the Italian alps.
In WW2 her village was invaded and many died.
Only she and her 2 sisters survived. Oldest was sent to a convent and she and her younger sister were placed in an orphanage.
Eventually she went to England, married an American air force man, who brought her home to America where she has been the last 50 years... but talks to her sister in Italy every week and visits her every other year.
She has been teaching me Italian for years, it would be nice to see if anyone other than her can understand me! LOL
