well #1 they weren't all white Europeans, and #2 the immigrants then wanted a better future and was willing to bust ass for it, bring their skills, bakeries, leather work, iron work, etc. Migrants come today not to offer this country their skills, but to suck on this government's pity of what the american people have built in the last 200 years.
