Yup. When I got bifocals, I was dizzy for a few days when turning my head and using stairs. Took a while for my brain to tune out the scary stuff and just balance.

Back in MY day, we could just SEE. :-)

Mine are the no-line bifocals known as "progressives". There was an insane fish bowl effect for nearly the first month. It made me feel ten feet tall because of the way they were in the lower part of the lens. I had to spend time practicing walking outside in them before I could manage not to fall on my face from tripping over lines in the pavement. Now I feel strange without them.

I have the progressive lenses also. I would prefer contacts, but I could never get them in my eyes. But I tried. :-)

My eyes are exceedingly DRY. My oil glands don't always produce enough oil to keep my tears from evaporating every 2 seconds, I think contacts would be a bother for that reason. But also they seem inconvenient what with all the replacing them so often, eye drops and contact solution etc...

Yup. They work for some people, but not everyone.

I can't even get Visene in my eyes! :-)

I find it annoying that the eye doctor always tries forcing contacts on people. My daughter needs glasses only for reading, and they even try to force them on her. SMH...

There's always the magnifier type in drug stores. Much cheaper, and no emergency if you lose them. :-)
