Nope, it's Ritchie Blackmore of Deep Purple.

Deep Purple is one of our favorites...the it opened last year for Alice Cooper in Vegas and we almost went, but figured we'd probably end up with crappy seats so didn't

I thought they have a different guitarist now. They went through Steve Morse, Joe Satriani, and maybe someone else. But Ritchie has been playing Purple songs with his other band (Rainbow), and Blackmore's Night. He records them and plays a mixed lot live with his 'other' bands.

Ritchie Blackmore is one of my favorite musicians. So is Alex Lifeson. :-)

I heard Ian Gillan say that it would be virtually impossible for Ritchie Blackmore to ever come back (which I'm sure is shared by Ritchie). I believe Gillan is currently fronting the band, but as much as I like him probably my favorite Deep Purple album ("Burn") is a David Coverdale effort. Love Rush...Neil Peart is one of my favorites :)

I think Ritchie would not be interested in a reunion also. He and Coverdale have a mutual hatred. Many of Ritchie's ex-band mates do. Ronnie James Dio wrote 'Rainbow In the Dark' about Ritchie. I hear he's hard to work with. ;-)

Burn is one of my favorites also. I am also a big fan of Stormbringer. And the comeback album, Perfect Strangers. But all of their albums have great music on them.

There was one weird one though, with Joe Lynn Turner (the singer from Rainbow at the time). The music was Purple, but the vocals weren't. Even Ian Paice said it was a bad fit. Turner was trying to imitate the Purple style with screaming and it just didn't seem to work. I am a big fan of his talent and delivery (I saw Rainbow live) but could not adjust to him fronting Deep Purple.

There's a lot of great material on the Purple albums to choose from. And tonight I will. After we did the Rush thing a couple of months ago, I did a Rush marathon for a few nights. It was nice to hear them again, since I don't play as much music as I used to. I think old age is catching up to me, but tonight Deep Purple will rock again! :-)

I don't listen to as much music as I used to. Every once in a while the wife and I will crank up some oldies on The Sonos and sing along to many of them (this is often the result of one too many beers and the neighbors love it (sarcasm)).

Ha! I've been doing a Deep Purple marathon all weekend. I think tonight or tomorrow will be the last of it for a while. Hearing Mistreated again makes me want to do a Rainbow set net. In my opinion, their version of Mistreated (live) is even better - and that original is hard to beat.

It was great to hear Child In Time again also. The best version of that might be on Made In Japan, I think.

I used to listen to music a lot more when I was making music, but I don't do much of that lately either. Almost ready for the old age home... :-p
