Scratching my head on this one

Roads, Schools, Police, Military, Public Power Grids, State Run Hospitals, The VA, Medicaid, Medicare, Disability, Sanitation, The Postal Service, Fire Departments, Snow Removal, Sewers, Mass Transit, ect, ect, All government services and social programs are provided taxes you are forced to pay. The Government which is elected by you for the most part controls every aspect of Private Business through regulations. So you can slice and dice it all you like. But it’s socialism.

Answer me these two questions:
Who owns the means of production in America?
How many non-socialist governments provide public services?

It’s interesting that people who have the ability to be rational and can use logic fight reality and redefine things in order to admit what the truth is. As the economy goes? As a private and public company goes? If you cant start, conduct, and choose who you conduct business with without government approval and permits. Government can in fact confiscate your property and the inventory Ect if you don’t abide their regulations ect. Then you don’t truly own it. My home I’m sitting in at this moment is owned by the bank and even if we have paid it off? We can still have it stripped from us via imminent domain or tax foreclosure.

Here's the answer to those questions: 1) Not the government 2) Every government on the face of the earth provides public services. I really think it's interesting that you believe I'm the one redefining things to "use logic to fight reality" when in fact it is quite the opposite. Since Sargon the Great (and even before) governments have in fact provided public services (roads, sewers, water, etc.) and most especially have established the monopoly on violence (military, police, etc.) as they rightfully should. The fact that they provided them does not make them "socialist" by any stretch of the imagination. A key tenant of socialism is that the "means of production" (factories, farms, businesses, etc.) should be controlled by the State for the "benefit" of the masses. We don't have full blown socialism in this country even if the government has continued to expand beyond it's bounds in an attempt to subvert various industries (healthcare comes to mind as does banking) to increase their control over them. Socialism didn't become "a thing" until the French Revolution gave people like Sartre muscle to their musings. Marx went a step further and, like a true economist, took the idea that the labor of "the proletariat" had it's own intrinsic value (making no differentiation between skilled and unskilled) to it's logical limit positing that labor was the ultimate value ergo the labor was being exploited by the business owner that employed him. His ideas have been proven hollow, even if they are perennially appealing to the youth, time and time again. I do get some sort of perverse enjoyment at how a simple meme can cause such angst among leftists that they feel compelled to "take me to school" and give me a well-intentioned, if misplaced, re-education. Next, I expect a hearty, roasting rebuttal of Capitalism, as I'm sure that you assume me to be a member of that camp as well. What comment points? This one has zero as i right this. Tell ya what? Provide me with facts that we and other Governments are not socialist. Not your opinions. Actual facts. What do you call Government services and programs made possible by extortion other than socialism
