Right. And it’s kind of selfish to believe that a god protects humans and only humans, and not any of the rest of the universe.

And atheists or non-Christians tend to be shunned by Christians, thought to be sinners or something, which technically goes entirely against Christian beliefs-they learn about love and peace for fellow men, but they ignore their religious teachings in certain situations, not realizing that they are what they might call ‘sinners’ at certain points.

"They tend to ignore their own faults and instead focus on the faults of others."

Literally, BOTH camps do this. You did it just now ...

Everyone's a hypocrite, on both sides.
No one has a monopoly on truth.

Agreed but so many atheists will believe there are other dimensions according to quantum physics but "know" there is no god. Both camps believe they have secret knowledge that the other camp doesn't.

Me? I'm agnostic. Maybe there is a god or God. Maybe there isn't. I don't have enough information to be sure one way or the other ... and neither does anyone else.

Every organized religion's book was written by a man or by men and men have twisted it into something it was never intended to be. Then they live their lives according to how someone else (or they themselves) have twisted it declaring that anyone who disagrees with them will go to hell or into eternal punishment.

Atheists on the other hand, pretentiously ridicule and deride anyone who believes in a higher power of any sort.

I prefer to live and let live regardless of which camp you're in.

The only problem is that religion was made up by humans in the first place. The earliest form of religion came during the early Neolithic era, and all religions to follow were created using human ideas. This fact brings me towards atheism. Also, most deities are thought to look similar to humans, showing that we are small minded enough to believe that something so grand as a god could look like us when there is a vast universe of forms to take out there. Religion began in the human mind, and it continues to be that way.

so what is the need for theism in humans but not animals? I bet a lot of the problems today stem from activly moving away from an adaptation/divine providence tha all humans feel in some form or the other.
I tend to side with Newton. Religion and science go hand in hand when applied correctly.
I'm more of a universalist. God/Universe, are different names for the same thing with a different level of understanding of the natural world. We arre, infact , made from the gasses and dust of stars. Mechanics of the universe created those and us. Thus, with our eyes, the universe looks to itself.
