I completely agree that todays politicians are more interested in the money and power they can get than the people they are supposed to be serving. And people who they are able to control are easier to manipulate for their purposes (usually special interests) and image. Politics seems to be a lot in what your image is.
And don't get me started on how the government puts out rules, regulations, or laws and then doesn't or selectively enforces them.
Personally what I do is unravel the spin the public is being fed by my local politicians. I'm not the favorite of my local government, but the community seems to like me. :)
