I've had mine take 16 hours before. :-( Did you upvote my first comment? I keep having problems seeing upvotes. Maybe I need to reboot...

-1? Wow. I don't think I've seen that.

sometimes it's not updated fast enough after an upvote and would still show 0.
If You click upvote again because You think You forgot it the count shows -1
(but actually it's not negative). Just take them imgflip-server some time to update everything.
