They were planning and initiating that years ago before tariffs with corporate espionage anyway. They were particularly interested in doing the chips because they hated the sleazy ass NSA backdoors.

Not really, they have been spending on energy and infrastructure and yea even weapons, but they left tech and food alone in exchange for being able to stock the walmarts of America. Thats over. Putin is winning, China will kick are arse in both eventually, and now much sooner since Trump leaves them little choice. We lose big, perhaps permanently.
