A lot of times, I downvote the usual speech balloon memes because the makers never pay attention to the font. Board room one is the worst. When I make a meme, I feel it should be able to be read. I've always tried to make my memes legible.
The comic sans discussion I had with someone over on Imgur about 5 years ago. His complaint was I used comic sans. I pointed out it was appropriate in a comic's speech balloon. Instead of an argument, he agreed. The other day, on Reddit, comic sans was brought up, and a good explanation of why it lost favor: overuse.
I guess I use it properly, because I haven't got any more complaints. Time's New Roman is my preferred font, though.
