You just gotta put in a bid that is hard to match. ;) eBay's use of secret maximum bids helps. I was trying to get an old shortwave radio to use with my noise project and the bids were all under $100. With an hour left I put in a $200 bid, knowing that everyone else would have to continually bid to try and locate my maximum and probably wouldn't go that high; and if they did then they'd have to pay over $200 and I wouldn't. I ended up getting it for $112 and it's come in handy. I felt pleasantly evil looking at the bidders keep trying to find out what I had bid by upping theirs. ;)

That's a lie of course, but it would be very evil. lol

Yeah, people who do that would be evil. ;D I only bother to enter the secret illuminati world of eBay auctions if I really want something. Mostly stuff like that makes my skin crawl. All those geeks trying to f#ck each other over for the pleasure of it...

When I was starting up the noise projects I soon found out that eBay was a better source for pedals than Amazon. Used, but in good shape, and even if they weren't up for auction I could find good prices. Also, if I lose an auction the stuff I'm looking for is prevalent enough that I can soon find another auction of it anyway.

I met a guy in a bar once who went drunken eBaying and won himself a large neon sign from Las Vegas. He was trying to figure out how the h3ll to get it back up to Portland. :D

I figure 'hey, at least I'm not trying to flip it quick for excessive profit...' ;)
