I took a little while to respond... Because I hoped to reach you - and get past appearances of partisanship. Let me assure you - I'm not a "Liberal" or a Democrat. I'm actually in the Peace and Freedom party - meaning I'm actually FOR - the progress that Democrats ape.

I'm trying to reach you - the way that Sophie Scholl tried to reach decent Germans - in another era of ascendant and NAKED fascism. Perhaps I'll be martyred similarly - for my beliefs.

In any event... I disagree. Trump was using those kids as HOSTAGES to get his Border Wall. He lost. The guy with the video below has a number of good angles on Trump and his fascist machinery... So I hope you don't assume that the "librul meedea" is the only group speaking out, against monstrous behavior by his regime.

be assured - I'm not invested in any personality cult around Trump. Actually it turns out that liberals are an awful lot more focused on Trump than I am - they pretty much seem obsessed with and/or paralyzed by Trump. But it's not their fault - they've been drugged (by MSM). As for my part - I'm well aware that Trump is just a chess piece in a much bigger game since I've been part of the greatawakening movement from the very beginnings.
To get the big picture: we are blessed to witness times that will enter the history books. That's what I've now become aware of - after decades of depression mankind finally notices the light at the end of the tunnel.

There was a 1 yr old in a Federal Court earlier in the week. The judge had no idea how to proceed. The refusal to privide counsel for refugees and asylum seekers - even minors has had the effect of complicating things, not streamlining them. It seems that with "0 tolerance" in some instances - they've deported the parents - leaving the children here. It is a HUGE mess.

You have more faith in ICE than many. 2 points to note - 2% margin of error... And this only looked at "registered voters" - meaning roughly 1/2 of the country was excluded from the poll. Also methodology may have been an issue, too. If this was a phone poll - did they only call landlines (tends to skew older)?

And "Eliminating" is extreme language. Phrased differently - it may have tilted in the other direction.

Few ICE-operations being scetchy the focus should be on enforcing or improving their work rather than eliminating ICE.

One idea being floated was to return to a Dedicated CBP and returning more agents to the HS Investigations segment.

But reall for people who claim to care about the Constitution and smaller Government... Eliminating a NEW National Police Force - with a broad and invasive sweep - seems like ir would be an easy sell. Unfortunately many in Trump's base would rather 'sacrifice essential liberty for (the illusion of) temporary safety' - to paraphrase Ben Franklin.

Remember just 2 decades back... When G. Gordon Liddy was RAILING against kack-booted thugs... And giving targeting tips? Because you know...Clinton...

Seems like "Homeland Security" is an essential about-face, on traditional Republican ideology.

My guess is that the better solution is to clean-up local problems locally - and national ones nationally. But if that becomes impossible... Well - the US Constitution isn't a suicide pact.

So true. And I wish that I could blame it GOP Boogeymen... But alas... In LA particularly they have 0 power to achieve their ends. So THEY (and the Chamber of Commerce) just buy Democrats like Mike Bonin to do their bidding.

I could do a DEEP DIVE into the shenanigans of gentrification that have led us to this point... But it would be dry and longer than a comment box. Suffice it to say that I have been covering WLA politics long enough (as a journalist) to qualify as a pundit - if there were a free press that covered these issues. I think the Venice Beachhead does well enough that I'm just one of the activists that they cover - when we score a win...
