I respect peoples right to say whatever they want, but I have a right to not listen

That's the problem; you think your right to be offensive is more important than my right not to see things that offend me. Your right to throw a punch ends at my nose. Your right to be an asshole ends at my computer screen. Once something effects another person, your rights now count for shit. The "Don't be such a baby" argument is the defence of bullies and ignorant thugs. What next? Blaming people for not liking your memes, when we can't scroll past them without reading them to see if we want to scroll past them?

Feckless c**t.

You don't know me at all! Have another read of your comment and see who thinks they have the right to be offensive. Did my meme offend you or are just having a bad day?

Your right to be an asshole ends at my right not to be bothered with you. As it is impossible to know the content of a meme without reading it, and as it's always the same basket of deplorables - both left and right - that are constantly vomiting up the same tired bollocks, we should have every right to mute idiot users whose memes we don't want to see. You're the snowflake who seems to think that your right to make a meme equates into an obligation for me to look at it. Your right to make a meme equates to MY right to mute you so I don't have to look at your shitpost.

That is so idiotic, I can't help but laugh my ass off at you. Imagine, someone so dumb, they don't understand the point of the site is for people to post their memes and let people judge them.
Take your Nazi censorship to another site before you melt away little snowflake. Then show us on the doll where the nasty pictures hurt you.

See, this kind of assholish behavior is exactly the sort of thing that I have every right to remove from my field of view. It's my internet connection, on my computer, using my profile, to connect. There's no reason at all to not allow me - and every user - the opportunity to maximize their enjoyment of this site by muting disagreeable imbeciles like you.

It's not censorship; it's just enforcing my right not to have to look at your posts...to remove myself from your audience. You have no right to tie me to a chair. Idiot.

No one is saying you don't have a right to remove it from view, scroll away. No one is forcing you to be an audience, go somewhere else where they have a safe space where you won't melt. But this isn't your site, and thankfully knuckle draggers like you don't make the rules. No one is forcing you to be here. You don't have ANY RIGHT to not be offended, creampuff.

Okay...then how do I know what to scroll past, without reading it first? I can't. Hence, the mute button.

...how do you know what to scroll past unless you look at it first? There is nothing in your freedom of speech that obliges me to have to pay attention to you; the easiest way for me to do that is to be able to click on your username and choose to "Mute" you, so I don't see your posts.

Are you so afraid that your opinions are so repugnant that you'll lose your entire audience, or so arrogant as to believe that your right to bellow is superior to my right to not listen? You can't, so you'll resort to ad hominem attacks, straw men, or deflection. See, I'm tired of this garbage, and it is my right to not have to put up with it. So I want to be able, I want EVERYONE to be able to see who they want, and actually be able to ENJOY themselves, because You. Do. NOT. Have. The. Right. To. Shit. On. Anyone's. Good. Time.

Maybe take the time to scroll through my collection. You will see very little, if any in the way of politics and I go out of my way to not offend people. How on earth do you even survive looking at the internet in general, do you get your mom to check everything first, just in case it might offend you? BTW, I'm only here to have fun and have a few laughs not to spoil anyone else's fun.

I filter out social media users whose views are repugnant to me; the beauty of social media is being able to tailor your experience to your preferences. I don't enjoy being hit over the head with extremist Christian social darwinist right-wing neo-Nazi Zealots. I choose to mute their bloviating, in order to have a more pleasant time online.

If that is a weakness, then you don't understand strength. I refuse to be a forced member of ANYONE's audience.

What illogical dumbassery! This is a site for posting memes, don't like, look away.

Please, tell me how your right to express myself is greater than my right not to pay you an iota of attention? How is your freedom of speech more imperative than my pursuit of happiness? Do you even understand how anti-American you sound, right now?
1 up, 7y,

Freedom of speech is an actual right here in the USA. Freedom from offense is not a right. The only one sounding Anti-American is you. I'm supporting not only Freedom of expression, but also the owners of this site having the freedom to run their site the way they want to, without some censorship driven snowflake "put protections in so the scary pictures don't hurt me" BS

Guess what? America doesn't have the exclusive rights to Free Speech. And your right to say whatever you want ends at my right to not listen to it. A mute button isn't censorship. Maybe instead of obsessing over your induhvidual rights you might want to think about your RESPONSIBILITY to your fellow Humans.

Your the snowflake whining that people shouldn't have the right to click a button and put you on "mute"...seems to me that you think your rights are more important than anyone else's.

That's just infantile.
1 up, 7y,

No, what's infantile is you insisting on having things your way. When you own the site, then you get to make the rules. Until then, this is a site about sharing memes, not catering to the peculiarly weird sense of snowflake entitlement. There is a very good reason for no mute on posters, it would reduce viewing of many posters and many memes, and this site is about expanding and sharing them, not limiting them all because they hurt your sensitive eyes. If you find some offend you and you have to read them to know that. Don't come here, go away to another place where they will protect your fragile little mind from being raped by the nasty mean pictures.

In any case I'm done arguing this with you, and I'm seriously mind boggled by this generation's BS belief that they have a right not to be offended.

Really? Because it sounds like you disagree with giving users more freedom...a mute button allows us more control over our experience on the page...but you seem more concerned with having an audience that can't filter you out...insisting on having your way. I'm just making a suggestion; I don't own the site, and Imgflip is free to listen or disregard my suggestion. But that's why sites like this HAVE FEEDBACK LINKS. Because if one small group of users shits all over the page and makes it unpleasant for the majority of their traffic, that page is going to fail. That's just bad business.

Good business is making sure one group of users doesn't drive another group of users away by being so unapologetically obnoxious. FYI that isn't exercising your right to free speech, that's ABUSING it.

But I supposed that's too nuanced a difference for someone as blunt as you.
1 up, 7y,

You do understand that it is far more in imgflip's best interest to maximize viewing of all memes rather than to cater to sensitive people's request to be able to limit viewing.
This is not my first go round with this sort of topic. And discussions with owners of other site, not putting in mute features being in the sites best interests has been confirmed due to the lowered traffic reason and far more important than catering to a minority that are horribly psychologically disturbed by images they can scroll past.
0 ups, 7y
Actually it's in their best interest to allow users to mute other, obnoxious uers and their shitpost memes. People come here to have a good time, not to have someone else's politics crammed in their face. But you seem to think your right to throw shit is more important than my right not to allow your shit to hit me.

You're the one getting bent out of shape, and you exertly refer to "other people" who told you stuff..."other people" so, sorry, but your anecdotal mythology has far less weight to me that any other argument you've made to justify not allowing people to be able to switch the obnoxious and the trolls off.

I've seen what happens to one too many websites when the trolls are given unfettered reign.

Hahaha! Anyways, I'm getting sidetracked. There's an evil toddler week going on and I was wondering if you could make a meme for it. Make sure you tag it "evil toddler week" so everyone can upvote it.
